RingSafe is an AI call assistant. When someone you don't know calls you, it answers for you, finds out who is calling and why, blocks scams and sales calls, and sends you a summary. This page explains what that involves for your data and for the people who call you.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a salted hash), or your Google account ID if you sign in with Google, and your mobile number.
- Screened calls: the caller's number, the time and length of the call, what the caller said (transcribed to text), what the assistant replied, the call's category (for example scam or delivery) and a short summary. We do not keep recordings of the calls themselves; audio is processed as the call happens.
- Your voice (optional): if you record a sample, we keep that clip and the sentences generated from it so the assistant can greet callers in your voice.
- Spam reports: numbers that are reported as scam, sales or robocalls, by the assistant or by you, to warn other users about the same numbers.
- Your device: a push notification token, so we can tell you about calls.
- Ads: the app shows ads from Google AdMob on some screens. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data for this, according to the choices you make in the consent screen.
What we don't collect
- Your contacts never leave your phone. On Android the app checks incoming numbers against your contacts on the device only, so people you know ring as normal.
- Your calls, contacts and voice are never used for advertising.
Why we use it
Only to run the service: screen your calls, show them to you, notify you, warn about spam numbers, keep your account secure and fix problems. We do not sell personal data.
Who processes it for us
- Twilio: the phone line the assistant answers on.
- Microsoft Azure Speech: turning speech to text and text to speech.
- Alibaba ModelScope: the AI model that understands the caller and writes replies.
- Expo: delivering push notifications.
- Cloudflare: securely connecting the app to our server.
- Google AdMob: ads, as described above.
These providers may process data outside Hong Kong.
People who call you
Callers are told at the start of every call that they are speaking to an AI assistant. What they say is transcribed and shared with you, the person they called.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Deleting your account in the app (Settings › Delete account) permanently removes your account, call history and recorded voice straight away. Spam reports about other people's numbers are kept without any link to you.
Your rights
Under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance you can ask to see or correct your data. Contact [email protected].
Children
RingSafe is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and tell you in the app for significant changes.
